Partner Donald B. Marks specializes in white collar crime, including mail and wire fraud, healthcare fraud, mortage fraud and money laundering.

Marks & Brooklier, criminal defense attorneys,  has successfully represented defendants in virtually every major organized crime case prosecuted in Southern California, and has also defended numerous noteworthy clients in the entertainment business.

In 1980, Marks & Brooklier was lead counsel in the "Los Angeles Mafia" case and thereafter represented an alleged mafia chief in a major RICO conspiracy case. Then, in 1987, the firm represented a client charged in the "Record Payola" case.

In 1994, the firm defended the "Hollywood Madam" Heidi Fleiss in a widely publicized state pandering case which ended in a partial mistrial and reversal on appeal, and won a substantial downward departure in her federal sentencing hearing.

In 1999, the firm successfully represented an ex-Disney executive, in federal court, whose well known internet sex solicitation case ultimately ended in a mistrial. During this case, the firm established the "Fantasy Defense," which has become a prominent defense in internet sex cases since.

Marks & Brooklier recently represented the alleged leader of the Ventura County division of the notorious "Hell's Angels" in a large drug conspiracy case.

Both  Donald B. Marks and Anthony P. Brooklier have over thirty years of trial experience and extensive knowledge of criminal law. Attorney Donald B. Marks grew up in New York City and graduated from Queens College (City University of New York) magna cum laude. He then attended and graduated from N.Y.U. Law School, is a member of the New Year Bar, and practiced criminal defense in N.Y.C. for several years. He was admitted to the California Bar in 1969. Mr. Marks relocated to Los Angeles in 1969-1970 and served briefly as a Deputy Attorney General, State of California, before forming his own law firm specializing in criminal law. He has practiced law for over forty (40) years and has tried well over one hundred (100) jury trials in state and federal courts. Mr. Marks has handled thousands of cases involving all types of criminal charges, including, but not limited to, assault, murder, rape, kidnapping, fraud, bribery, income tax evasion and theft.

Mr. Marks has handled numerous high-profile criminal cases relating to pimping/pandering, organized crime and internet sex crimes. Mr. Marks and his partner, Anthony P. Brooklier, have practiced law together since 1976 and are well-known in the Los Angeles legal community for their many years of representing all types of clients charged with both violent crimes as well as white collar offenses. They are highly skilled, aggressive and most of all, dedicated to their clients.

• Marks is an active member in several federal circuit and district courts.
• Marks is admitted to appear in the U.S. District Court in the Central, Northern, Eastern, and Southern Districts of California, as well as the First, Second, and Ninth Federal Circuit Courts of Appeal, and the United States Supreme Court.
• Marks has been a member of the Beverly Hills Bar Association, and acted as the Chairman of the White Collar Crimes Committee from 1981 until 1985.
• Marks is a member of the Criminal Courts Bar Association, acted as a member of the Federal Indigent Defense Panel from 1971 until 1979, and was a member of the American Bar Association, in its criminal justice section.
• Marks was also on the Board of Governors of the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice from 1998 until 2001. Marks is currently a member of the President's Club of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Century City Bar Association, which named him Criminal Defense Attorney of the Year, 2000-2001.
